The IDR Process

  • Verify your dispute falls under the Federal IDR Process.
  • Start the Federal IDR process within 4 business days after the end of the 30-business-day open negotiation period through the CMS site and submit the Notice of IDR Initiation to the Departments and non-initiating party.
  • Select MET Healthcare Solutions as your IDRE of choice.
  • Submit notice to the Departments not later than 1 business day after the end of the 3-business-day period for certified IDR entity selection of the IDRE selected.
  • MET will issue notice of eligibility to the parties via email which will include information on how to pay the Admin and IDRE fee via ACH deposit or check.
  • No later than 10 business days after the eligibility notice is issued, each party must submit to MET the offer information requested in the eligibility notice and payment. 
  • You will receive an email from CMS (federalidrquestions@cms.hhs.gov) with instructions on how to submit your offer for the dispute.    
  • Not later than 30 business days after being selected as the certified IDRE, MET will issue the decision on which of the two offers were accepted.
  • MET will issue a refund of the IDRE fee to the prevailing party.
